I have been playing with WordPress again.  This time I themed a site to be used as a home page for a project at college, students will be making their own portfolio websites.

The theme had to be clean, simple and meet the college visual guidelines.  It’s built to be a Bootstrap child theme.  All the boxes on the front page pull info from other places, pages or widgets, so the course tutor can update the info.  I went for a big, static header image because those are all the rage these days and a large central “Create Your Webpage” call to action button because that is the only bit most students using the page will care about.  The simple navigation links to the project brief, criteria and help pages and the My Account will take students through to their WordPress dashboard.  There is space for three widgets on the front page and two menus.

As you can see from the above image, the theme is scalable and suitable for use on all screen sizes.  The other pages are simpler still because they will be quite text heavy.  They have a run of the mill side bar for widgets and the text takes up the rest of the page.
